Founder & Executive Director
Casey Joseph is a proud, passionate special educator and advocate for inclusive education. With over 8 years of professional experience working with neurodivergent students, Casey has honed skills in specialized instruction, complex learning styles, and behavioral intervention. Casey has worked in and collaborated with clinics, private schools, charter schools, public schools, and alternative learning environments. She is also a certified special education teacher in Washington, DC.

Casey currently serves as the founder and executive director of Casey’s Special Education Services, LLC. Casey’s team of special education teachers are dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality learning and support for all students and families across the DC Metropolitan Area.

Hi, I'm Widlyn Evans—feel free to call me Lyn! I'm a licensed Special Education Teacher with over a decade of experience in MCPS. Throughout my career, I've taken on roles such as special education team leader, interventionist, and mentor. My background includes working with push-in/pull-out models, self-contained classes, and co-teaching with general education teachers. I’m dedicated to addressing individual student needs in both academic and emotional development, crafting hands-on lessons that cater to diverse learning abilities. As a trauma-informed practitioner, I take pride in building strong, positive relationships with students and families to create a supportive and safe learning environment for everyone.

Lily Hammond is a Certified Special Education Teacher with over 14 years of experience in the special needs field, including teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools. She has 7 years of professional classroom experience and over 6 years as a lead teacher and coach for teens and adults with disabilities. Lily currently serves as the Director of DMV Services, where she focuses on building strong relationships with schools and community partners, overseeing family engagement, and contributing to strategic initiatives. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, she is passionate about creating inclusive, dynamic, and joyful learning environments. Lily continues to live in the area with her family and is committed to giving back to the community she calls home. I have a lifelong interest in education and child development, with over 15 years of experience and over 8 years in DC public education. During this time, I have taught grades 3-5 general and special education. I’ve also led interventions in grades PK-5 at the administrative level. My areas of expertise include: early literacy, project-based learning, IEP and 504 Plan development, social-emotional learning and behavior management. Ange Christelle Traore-Kouassi is a dedicated Special Education Teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools. Originally from Ivory Coast in West Africa, Ange is a native French speaker who brings a global perspective and deep cultural awareness to her teaching. Bailey Awkard-Nwokogu
Hi! I’m Bailey Awkard-Nwokogu, a special educator with over 13 years of experience working with students from preschool through high school. I love getting to know each child and building strong connections with families to support both learning and social-emotional growth. I always try to bring student interests into the classroom and encourage every learner to feel confident and proud of who they are. I work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to make sure every child gets what they need to succeed. Supporting and empowering students is truly my passion. I have been teaching, coaching, and supporting student learning since 2011. I have a strong passion for working with individuals with unique abilities and have an innate desire to help all students reach their social and academic goals. The best way to describe my teaching style is: personalized. I approach every student with a careful eye—focusing closely on their individual strengths and needs, while engaging them through learning that aligns with their personal interests. I obtained my Masters in Special Education from the University of Virginia and currently teach at the elementary level within Arlington Public Schools—working with students in grades K–5. I received my National Board Teaching Certification in 2021 and was honored as Teacher of the Year for the school district in 2022. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family and my dog, trying new recipes for baked goods, and watching live sports. I look forward to working with you and your wonderful child!

My name is Desiree Theresa Neville, and I am a proud and passionate Special Educator. I began my career in education in 2012 as a 3rd grade teacher and have since held a variety of roles, including grade team lead, content development writer, homeroom teacher, and special education teacher. Fatima Jallow is a dedicated educator in the DMV area. She holds a Master’s in Elementary and Special Education and started her career in the general education classroom. From her 2006 Human Development degree from Ohio State to her Master's in Special Education from George Mason University, Franni has passionately championed young learners. Her 13 years in elementary education, including five years in inner-city D.C. and seven at Sidwell Friends School in Bethesda, have provided her with a diverse understanding of student needs. Early work with ESOL students ignited a passion for supporting children with learning differences, driving her to specialize in special education. Hello, I am Kathy Vall, a proud and loving mother of four grown children. I have 16  years of experience teaching English, Reading, and Special Education, but my true passion is teaching Special Education English to high‑school students, especially those with autism. One of my greatest ventures in life was my year-long deployment overseas as a civilian in Kabul, Afghanistan. That experience, along with my experiences as a mother and an educator, have taught me that no matter what the obstacles, given the right tools and a desire to learn, all things are possible and success can be obtained. Hello! My name is Kerry Propst and I am a Licensed Special Education Teacher. I currently teach an Enhanced Autism Classroom in Fairfax County Public Schools. Prior to working for FCPS, I taught in a Public Day School teaching students ranging from elementary students at 5 years old to vocational students at 22 years old. I have taught students with a range of disabilities and enjoy finding ways to modify instruction and material to meet students' needs. Lauren Lange has been in the field of education since 2011, when she began her career as a High School Social Studies Teacher while soon after pursuing her Master’s Degree in Special Education. Hello! I have been an elementary educator for over 20 years. I began my career as an elementary classroom teacher and have taught grades 1–4. With a master’s degree in Reading Education, I went on to be a Reading Specialist for nine years. I have been tutoring students in grades K–9 in reading and writing since 2014. I also have a great deal of experience with students who face challenges with ADHD as well as dysgraphia and dyslexia. Building a good rapport with my students is always my first priority. My passion is creating lesson plans for each individual student’s needs.

Meredith Chase-Mitchell
Meredith Alaina, Ed.D., native New Yorker, has a background in education that spans twenty years with a foundation in non-profit management and English classroom instruction in The Bronx and Brooklyn, NY. Meredith is currently an online adjunct professor at a New England-based university and a Learning Specialist implementing innovative instructional strategies for students in grades 5–12. In 2015, Meredith co-published a collection of essays and interviews called Why the SUN Rises: the faces and stories of women in education. The book highlights women in education via vibrant photos and honest essays on why they teach. Meredith has also presented at national education conferences offering workshops to new teachers on anchoring their pedagogy to meet the learning differences of all students.

I’m a passionate special education teacher in Ward 8 with a heart for making a difference in the lives of children. Three years ago, I started an autism program at my current school, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I recently completed my Master’s in Special Education. Outside of my professional life, I’m a proud wife and mom to two wonderful kids—my 13-year-old daughter and my 9-year-old son.
